Scott and I recently did an engagement session for Natalie and Dave on Natalie's parent's gorgeous property in Catawissa. This shoot was all about fall color, which is exactly what Natalie and Dave wanted. They are planning an amazing wedding for June 5, 2009 at Spyglass Ridge Winery
, so it's awesome that their engagement pictures will have a totally different look and feel...especially since we'll be doing their pre-ceremony wedding portraits in this exact same location. Good choice Natalie! You can't go wrong with 11 beautiful acres to work with!
To Natalie and Dave, we had a great time doing your pictures, talking, and getting to know you better. I remember thinking the second I met you last spring that you were going to be so fun to work with, and I was right. And Natalie, your family is just too sweet, too! We hope you (and they) like the little preview of images, and we can't wait for your wedding in June! Hugs ~Kris & Scott
Really. Could you ask for better fall color!?! Or a cuter couple!?! :-)
Natalie and Dave were total naturals in front of the camera.
Too cute. I LOVED Natalie's hat.
Had to throw in a few black & whites...although I will definitely be giving them the color versions as well.
I love this close-up. Natalie's eyes are piercing blue.
Sometimes kissing poses can look awkward, but not with these two!
I love this one of them not looking at the camera.
We had to get a few with the adorable family dog, Peggy. Even Peggy was a natural!
Peggy liked to hold her leash in her mouth while she walked and jumped.
I love the series of candid moments we got with Peggy.
Thanks again for everything Natalie and Dave! Happy Halloween!!!
On Saturday October 18th, Scott and I photographed the wedding of Stephanie and Tim, and it was a PERFECT day from start to finish. Steph and Tim are SOOO much fun - which we quickly came to realize when we did their engagement shoot at Hershey Park over the summer. They are now featured on our main website - so if you haven't seen their 1 minute engagement slideshow - click HERE
to watch it. But back to their wedding...
The ceremony was held at the Colonial Park United Church of Christ and the reception was at the beautiful Civic Club
in downtown Harrisburg. The fall colors were breathtaking, and their wedding party was one of our favorite groups ever.
To Steph and Tim, we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to document your wedding memories. You are a perfect match and we are truly blessed to know you both. Hope you had an awesome honeymoon in Mexico, and hope you like the little preview of your images. Many many more to come. Much love, Kris & Scott
So I stole Steph's shoes...aren't they so cool?!!
She was a gorgeous bride!
Some fun with the girls...
And the guys.
Tim - you guys rock for getting on the slide!
I love Scott's landscape of the church. We had a dramatic sky that day.
I think Steph had a hard time getting Tim's ring on.
Ok, I said one of our favorite wedding parties. So obvious why. THANK YOU!!!
Steph did some great planning and we got to shoot their portraits during the "golden hour". Just love it!
There's that dramatic sky again. I would call this art....too bad my husband took it! ;)
Onto the reception - look what they had as you entered the doors!
I love this moment during their first dance.
There was a "Sing for a Kiss"...
And an adorable Mother-Daughter dance that made me tear up.
We did a few group shots - GO E-TOWN!!!
And lots of fun dancing shots, including some of our "zoomers" to get the lights to look all funky.
Then it was garter/bouquet time. Steph stuffed a big pair of red undies in her garter.
And the girl who caught the bouquet put them on the "lucky" guy who caught the garter. When he started "modeling", I seriously almost dropped my camera. It was so funny! :)
At the very end of the night, guests surrounded the newlyweds for their final dance. Scott focused wide-angle.
And I got the close-ups. Steph and Tim - congratulations and thanks so much again!!!
A couple weeks ago I met up with one of my favorite families, baby Evie, who is now 9 months old, and her super sweet parents, Kristi and Mark. I am doing a "Baby's First Year" plan for Evie, and for her 9-month session we went to The Hotel Hershey
. Kristi and Mark actually got married there 3 years ago, and since this shoot was so close to their 3rd wedding anniversary on October 22nd, we all decided it would be the perfect place for the shoot.
To Kristi and Mark, thank you (and Evie!) once again for an awesome shoot -- I always feel like I'm hanging out with 2 friends! I hope you like the preview of your images -- can't wait for you to see the rest! Much love and appreciation ~Kristine
Every year on their anniversary, Kristi and Mark get a "passer by" to take their photo by the fountain inside the hotel. So of course we had to do some! Evie stayed by me in her stroller while I did a few pictures of her Mommy and Daddy.
And then since we had such a nice day, we went outside. Evie, with her brilliant blue eyes and chubby cheeks, is even more beautiful than the last time I saw her. She is such a Gerber baby!
A family portrait by the outdoor fountain. I think Evie likes me! :-)
She showed off some of her new crawling skills...
"Hmmm, where should I go next??"
Kristi got Evie the cutest hat to match her dress, but Evie wanted nothing to do with it. I got the cutest series of her pulling it off her head. And yes, her eyes really ARE that blue. The light hitting them in this spot was perfect.
Then Evie did some dancing with Mom...
And Dad. She was just full of smiles.
"I see you photographer lady!"
I love this candid one -- such happiness.
We had to wait until the very end to get a shoulder shot because Evie loves to get up there and mess up her Dad's hair. You can tell she is having a blast!
Evie, I can't wait to see you right around The New Year for your big ONE year session! Thanks so much again Kristi and Mark!
I recently had the chance to do a lifestyle photography session for Judy and Bill, and their 2 beautiful black labs, Grace and Timmy. This was the first time I had ever photographed 2 dogs for a shoot, and it really couldn't have gone better. We did the shoot in Judy and Bill's fenced backyard in Harrisburg. It was perfect because the dogs didn't have to wear leashes, they could run and play, and they looked like themselves without collars on.
To Judy and Bill, I am so glad you asked me to do a shoot for you -- it was a lot of fun and a great learning experience for me too! I am still having a hard time telling Grace and Timmy apart from one another, so I hope I'm posting some of both dogs! :-) If I posted more of one of them, not to worry, there are a gazillion more that I love and can't wait for you to see! Thanks again! ~Kristine
Here are just a few favorites, starting with the family shot....
Thanks so much again Judy and Bill! Grace and Timmy are adorable and so sweet!
On Saturday October 4th, Scott and I photographed a very special wedding, for Lindie and Brad. Lindie and Scott have worked together at SUN Ortho for many years -- Scott is a Physical Therapist and Lindie is a PTA -- and Lindie literally asked us to photograph her wedding 3 years ago, before we even had a photography business! Back then she just knew we took good pictures. :-)
Lindie and Brad's ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and their reception was at the beautiful Masser's Restaurant
in Paxinos. What started out chilly turned into a beautiful fall day, so we were able to do lots of outdoor pictures.
To Lindie & Brad, it was such an honor for us to photograph your wedding. Every detail was beautiful and we had an awesome time! We hope you like the little preview of your images and we can't wait for you to see the rest! Congratulations!!! Love, Kris & Scott
Lindie had the cutest signs on the way to the church so no one would get lost.
We started with pictures of Lindie and the girls...
And then Brad and the guys. I loved the orange and brown.
Anticipating the walk down the aisle...Lindie was very calm.
Scott was able to get some really cool shots from the old church, which was on the second level.
After the ceremony, we did the family and wedding party pictures first...I loved that big tree and the orange leaves on the ground that matched the dresses.
And then we photographed the newlyweds. First something more traditional...we had to show off Lindie's beautiful Maggie
And then something more modern and fun.
Scott caught this cute moment of their family members and grandparents cheering them on from the sidelines.
The parents of the bride were ready to party!
Lindie had a bounce in her step again after finally getting out of her heels!
The cake was gorgeous, and even more so against the red walls.
There was a little cake smashing, but I decided to post the nice picture.
Then it was time for toasts. Brad's best man did a great speech.
And the first dance...
And the bouquet toss. I remember being so excited about this picture the second I took it. Thanks Lindie! :)
Lindie and her Mom were so cute dancing.
And so was the flower girl. She loved getting twirled around.
Congratulations and thank you again Lindie and Brad!
I usually go down to the DC-Northern VA area for a marathon photoshoot weekend twice a year -- and I absolutely love it! I get to visit old friends, make new ones, and I always come back with a ton of great photos. Speaking of great photos...my 6th and final shoot was a referral from another client (thank you, Rose!), and this family was SOOOO photogenic. I met Meredith and her husband Jeff at their home, and then we went over to Algonkian Park
in Sterling for the shoot. Upon arriving at the park, I knew it was going to be a great place to take pictures. Then, two adorable, happy little girls got out of the car, and I knew the shoot was going to be exactly how I hoped I would end my weekend. :-)
To Meredith and Jeff, thank you so much for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family! You guys are so much fun! I really had a hard time choosing images for the blog, so I'm so happy you'll have ALL of them on CD. In the meantime, I hope you like the sneak peek! With love and appreciation ~ Kris
Meet darling 2-year old Kaitlyn. She has her Dad's eyes.
And precious 5-month old Ally. She has her Mom's. I love her little hairbow!
We did some portraits with Mom...
And the girls made it so easy!
Then we got some with Dad.
I love this one of Jeff and Kaitlyn.
Playtime! Meredith has the most beautiful natural expressions.
Baby Ally was having lots of fun!
I mean, just look at that smile!
And Kaitlyn had a great time too. She loved running around...
And getting carried around on her Dad's shoulders...the laughter in the picture on the right is priceless!
She loved giving hugs and kisses to her Mom...
And chasing after butterflies. If you look closely, you can see the little white butterfly she is pointing at. I love the whole mood and feeling of this image.
Meredith and Jeff, Kaitlyn and Ally, thank you again! I hope to see you all again in the near future.
My second to last DC-area photoshoot was for my sorority sister Kim, her husband Mark, and their two beautiful blue-eyed babies, Shane and Avery. We did the shoot at their amazing home in Oakton, VA, and it had so many great spots for photos, including the kids' bedrooms. I LOVE on-location photography!
To Kim and Mark, thank you for everything! For trusting me yet again to document these precious memories, for all your blog comments, and for your friendship over the years. I hope you enjoy the sneak peek - there were a TON more I wanted to blog, but I was at my space limit! XOXO Kris
Meet my friend Kim and her 2-year old son, Shane.
Isn't he such a doll?!
He could seriously be in the Pottery Barn Kid's catalog.
His 6-month old baby sister Avery was taking a good nap so she would be ready for her turn.
Mommy and Shane decided it was time to get her up.
But Daddy knew that a bottle would do the trick. I love the realness of this image.
Yep, it worked - I'm ready to go. Aren't I so cute?!
One of my favorite sibling shots ever.
While Avery was getting changed into her next outfit, Shane and Mark played in the living room.
And then Avery came down in her pretty fall dress. She even matched the furniture. :)
You could tell she L-O-V-E-S her Mommy. I love her little hand on Kim's face.
After some indoor shots, we went outside for just a few. I love this series of Shane...I couldn't post just one because they were all so funny and cute!
Perfection! Thanks again Kim and Mark. I had a blast and look forward to more pics in the future. Much love! Kris
When I was down in DC/NOVA 2 weeks ago, I did a lifestyle shoot for my friend Megan, her husband Cory, and their two ADORABLE kids, Caroline and Ethan.....actually, I should probably say THREE adorable kids. Megan is expecting her third child right around Christmas, and there is no chance this new baby is not going to be GORGEOUS. Just wait until you see the first two, then you'll know what I mean.
To Megan and Cory, I had so much fun doing your family pictures, and it was really nice getting to know you both better. I can't wait to hear the news of the arrival of Baby #3....he/she is very blessed to be coming into such a loving family. I am very excited about your pictures and actually got more sibling shots than I realized. I hope you like the little preview! Much love and appreciation ~Kris
The beautiful "M" family.
Caroline is almost 5. I think she looks so much like her beautiful mom, Megan.
And little Ethan is 2. His sweet smile was melting my heart the whole shoot.
From the other picture you would never know that Megan is 7 months pregnant (Megan, you look amazing!). What an awesome Christmas gift they'll be receiving this year.
I LOVE this one.
Anytime I asked Ethan or Caroline to pose for a picture with their parents, it was like, "Okay!" There's that smile again...
Caroline's little arm around her Dad's shoulder makes me smile. These kids totally adore their parents.
I know that Caroline and Ethan are going to love having a little brother or sister around.
Could they get any sweeter!?!
Okay, maybe they could. I'm not sure which one I love more?? I think I would frame both next to each other.
With this one in the middle! Megan and Cory, thanks again for a great shoot and for coming to meet me in Arlington. Keep me posted on Baby M...and congratulations!
From the first day I met her my freshman year of college, I had a feeling we would be friends for life. Today, nearly 14 years later, I know I was right. I met Heather in my sorority days at Virginia Tech, and in a very short time she became one of my best friends. She was my roommate my junior and senior years, and as we married the men of our dreams, we stood beside each other.
Heather is the kind of friend who would bring you a present on her birthday. She makes me want to be a better friend, and a better person, and she never ceases to amaze me. She has a 4-week old and a 1 1/2 year old, and she makes it look easy. She is the owner of a VERY successful therapy staffing company
in Northern VA, and in her "spare" time she thought it would be fun to start yet another company
together, along with our friend, Jason. She is definitely the ultimate over-achiever, and she has been such a positive influence in my life, in so many ways.
Heather and Tib, I've been waiting a long time to get you guys on the blog! I had so much fun taking your pictures, and I can't even begin to describe how special it is for me to be able to document these moments that pass all too quickly. I love you both! Love, Kris
My beautiful friend and her precious newborn daughter, Charlotte. Yes, Elsa and Charlotte are just 3 months apart...so destined to be BFF! :-)
Isn't Charlotte just PERFECT!?!
Well, so is their first born, Jackson. He will be 2 in March.
I LOVE this family shot! H - I would go BIG with this one.
It was raining during their shoot, so we did a lot of the pictures in their bed, and I love how they turned out. We're attempting to get Jackson to kiss Charlotte.
Almost...I love how she is looking back at him.
Success! Good job Jackson.
How cute is he!?!
I wanted to get a really fun and modern newborn shot, so we ventured into their mudroom because it had great exposed brick and great natural light. Here is what we came up with. :)
Jackson got a turn too.
Later that night when the rain had stopped, we took Jackson to the park to play.
And when we got home, Charlotte was a little angel in her bouncy seat while her Mommy and Daddy cooked up a gourmet meal. H & T - you guys are the BEST! XOXO
My second shoot of my DC-photoshoot-weekend was for my good friend and sorority sister, Chrissy...it's hard for me to say Charissa, just like it's hard for her to call me Kris or Kristine. She still calls me Krissy, too. Chrissy, (or Mul, as we all really like to call her) and I lived together in a house with 5 girls my senior year of college, and I have the best memories of that year. When I close my eyes, I can still hear Chrissy's contagious laugh, and that makes me happy.
To Chrissy and Rob, you have a beautiful family. Ben is so adorable and sweet, and I'm sure his little brother is going to be just like him! I am so happy for you, and I hope you like the sneak peek as much as I do. Much love! Kris(sy) :-)
Meet gorgeous 4-year old Ben.
They are such a cute family.
My definition of a modern maternity portrait. Mom gazing out a window while wrapped in a cloth?! No thanks! Mom in her own clothes in her own front yard, with a cute son to smile down at?! Yes please! Chrissy is expecting another boy in November.
Sweet...I need to post more images like this. Sometimes I get too carried away with the portraits that I forget the story-telling ones.
Ben did so good for some "posed" pictures that we let him play in his brand new Tree House.
Nope, you can't come in! ;)
I LOVE this picture! Ben was allowed to jump on his bed if he looked at me and smiled. I think he did GREAT!
They have a beautiful master bedroom, so I couldn't resist a bed-shot.
But Ben wanted to sit in the front so he could make funny faces at me! I just love this kid! He is his parents' child for sure!
Ben and his parents are huge National's fans.
This is one of my favorites. I showed it to Chrissy on the back of the camera because it made me laugh. I love the composition, and Ben's expression shows how much personality he has.
See you soon Ben, and congrats on becoming a BIG brother next month!
