On Saturday October 15th, I photographed Kathy & Thad's wedding in Old Town Alexandria, VA at The Hotel Monaco. What an ahhhhmazing day!! There was a bride with a smile (and laugh) that could light up any room, a groom who, as coined by one of his groomsmen, smiles with a sheepish grin of complete adoration when he looks at her, family and friends who were just plain awesome and made me feel more like a guest than the photog, and details details details. Oh, and another perfect day for an outdoor ceremony. My blog is out of control, so before I write any more, here are a few (okay, a LOT) of favorites. Enjoy!
The uber swanky Hotel Monaco in Old Town. LOVE.
You know it's gonna be a great day when it starts with purple Coach shoes.
And flowers that look like this.
And a gorgeous dress...
The beautiful bride in the beautiful lobby.
Love the laugh!
Loved these girls!
Especially that little flower girl, Alexa. Her parents are some of my best clients, and wonderful friends too.
Girl flowers, boy flowers...
And it was time to find the handsome groom.
Such a great group of guys.
Ceremony time - the programs were darling!
Kathy was walked down the aisle by her 2 brothers.
I love when I can get a shot of the groom's face with the bride in the foreground.
Kathy's brother sang and played guitar during the ceremony.
Love the moment.
Love the setting.
I got the real kiss too but couldn't resist this one because it's a "smile kiss"!
The receiving line and congratulations...
What perfect fall flowers.
A completely unplanned shot of Thad running inside to say "It's picture time!" Love it!
One of my favorite wedding party shots ever. Thanks Kathy and Thad for the great looking group and thanks Restoration Hardware for the great looking furniture!
So sweet and so modern.
Then it was time for portraits of the newlyweds alone.
We walked around the streets of Old Town.
But mostly we just used the hotel because it had so many great spots. Love this.
Loved their color scheme and their placecards.
Getting ready for their first dance.
It was really really good!
Then there were some toasts...by the best man, Thad's brother Scott.
And maid of honor.
I loved capturing their reactions...the speeches were obviously hilarious...
The kids just wanted to dance!
A look, a glance, a smile...this is the type of image that defines joy on your wedding day.
There was a whole lotta dancing going on.
There were flying curls...
And kids in sneakers and diapers. Hehe!
The newlyweds breakin it down!
Gotta love an impromptu photo on the dance floor.
Thanks Kat and Scott for referring me to your sweet family!
And thanks Kathy and Thad for the opportunity to document the happiest day of your lives. It was an absolute blast!
Wait, the blog isn't over yet...I still have editing to do so I'm only posting a few for now...on Friday night, I photographed Kathy and Thad's rehearsal dinner at Landini Brothers in Alexandria.
What incredible atmosphere.
The entire room was just warm, filled with family and friend wearing glow necklaces. LOVE.
There's that laugh again!
There was lots of laughing going on...
And even a few tears after Thad's mom gave a heartfelt speech.
I couldn't be happier for these two.
Kathy and Thad, again, congratulations! Much love and appreciation! ~Kris
As a mom of 2 daughters myself, I have to admit that my heart skips a beat when photographing 2 sisters, especially 2 older ones who are so obviously best friends. When my babies are older, I hope they are just like these 2. Really. They love each other, love their parents, love their Grandma -- and they are just sweet sweet sweet! Who could ask for more? Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!
We started off our morning with a few of the whole family, including Heather's mom (Grandma!).
Three generations and four beautiful girls.
Grandma's precious girls.
Mom and daughter, does it get any sweeter?
After a few with Grandma, we focused on Heather and Warren's immediate family.
Meet gorgeous 8-year old Layne.
And stunning big sister, 10-year old Reese. She thought it was fun standing on these columns...
So we rolled with it for a family shot. Girl has good taste.
And a few of the sisters together...
Seriously, I love them all.
I so adore the grounds at UVA.
Beautiful sweet family!
These pictures are even more special since Heather and Warren both went to med school at UVA.
Love this close up!
And of course, their eyelashes.
I have photographed wedding parties here, so why not a family? Love it!
At the end, we just played.
The girls had a GREAT time...and so did I.
Images like these are why I said my heart skips a beat. It is exactly how I know Heather and Warren will want to remember their girls at 8 and 10.
H & W - thank you soooo much! I adore your family and hope we can do this again sometime! Hugs~ Kris
This morning my husband had music on, and that catchy Beatles track came on. All You Need is Love...Love is All You Need. I thought to myself -- love that song, love my job, love my clients, and the blog title came to be.
I photographed Lialeh's sister-in-law in the spring, and Lialeh saw my work through her and immediately contacted me to schedule a session. I am so excited about what we got -- what a beautiful family, inside and out. Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!
We started off with some portraits of Lialeh and Mike's 3 beautiful kids. Three-year old Connor...
Three-year old twin sister Taylor...
And darling 16-month old Lucas.
Somehow we managed to pull this one off and it was a really happy day...
After that the kids played. They had fun picking flowers...
And just loving on each other. So sweet!
I snuck in a few more portraits when they didn't realize it. What a handsome little guy!
And seriously, what a beauty with that long wavy hair!
Just gorgeous. I so adore this child.
I got a few eyelash shots.
Because like all the kids I photograph it seems, these kids had some amazing lashes!
And then we got some portraits like this one. Precious!
We got several looking at the camera versions with Lucas, but I could not resist that smile. I love when a portrait turns into a great candid.
So so dear. All you need is love.
It is just oozing out of these photos.
Even got a few of Lialeh and Mike -- so adorable you two!
And the whole family -- you bet! I love this moment.
And I really love this portrait. Lialeh and Mike, this was SO much fun. Thank you for being so wonderful to work with. Lialeh, can't wait to see you at the workshop in May! Hugs! ~Kris
I know Dana from college, but I hadn't seen her in forever -- until this recent session. Dana and her husband Eric lived in many far away places, most recently in Scottsdale, Arizona. But a job transfer brought them to Richmond, Virginia and I am thrilled. Thrilled that they are living here, and also thrilled that they asked me to take family photos for them. Especially these super special newborn photos of Cameron, who was born on September 27th. Here are a few favorites from our morning together. Enjoy!
A three-year old, a 2-week old AWAKE newborn, AND the dog! This was one of our first images and I knew it was going to be a great session.
How super sweet! Big sister Anna is totally smitten with her baby brother Cameron.
While Cameron was eating, I got a few of Anna and Daddy. Precious!
Then it was back inside. LOVE this!
And this. Dana, you are gorgeous as always.
Daddy's boy. They have a beautiful home and I loved using the foyer for photos.
Baby feet. Just delicious...
Sweeter than a hershey kiss!
Cameron is sooooo cute, and he slept really well for us during this session. Dana and Eric, I hope that has continued. ;)
Anna did really great too.
I have a bunch that I love of her but this might be my fave. So pretty!
With the holidays approaching, we had to take a few in the Santa hat.
Dana and Eric (Ely!), thank you so much for asking me to do these special pictures for your family. Cameron and Anna are beautiful -- it was so great to meet them and to see you and I can't wait to see you all again -- hopefully soon! Love, Kris
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving from the Pringles! ~Kristine, Scott, Elsa, and Emme **ps - we've been taking advantage of the nice weather and taking lots of pictures today so maybe I'll post more later. Depends on what time my kids go to bed after eating pies and cookies! :)
So it was a wonderful Thanksgiving, but my kids went to sleep LATE, as expected. I promise to post a ton of pictures during my winter slow-time, but for now here are 2 of my favorites of our girls. We are blessed. xoxo
Emme will turn 2 on December 16th...I will definitely be doing a special birthday blog for her that day.
And Elsa is 3 1/2. Time sure does fly but we are enjoying every minute. More pics coming soon. :)
You know it's a GREAT session when the TINY 3-month old baby is doing BIG belly laughs. :-)
Brooke's sister bought her a photography gift certificate last Christmas, and we scheduled our session for early October, just 3 months after Brooke and her husband Craig had their second little girl.
Though I've never met Brooke's sister, she had seen my work and knew that Brooke would just love having photos of her family done as a gift. This year, I'm sure Brooke will be returning the favor in the form of prints for everyone on her list.
Here are a few favorites from our belly-laughing morning. Enjoy!
Meet Brooke, Craig, 2-year old Quinn and 3-month old Katherine.
Quinn LOVED swinging...
And she LOVED kissing her new baby sister.
So we rolled with it. So sweet!
She also loved picking flowers...
And showing them to baby Katherine. She was so observant and curious about everything.
She really loves her big sister...
And I think she thinks she is hilarious!
What a beauty!
And what a little dollbaby!
She is just gorgeous.
We got all the relaxed "unposed" portraits...
In all the different combinations....
But I know that Brooke and Craig are going to love the candid moments even more. Like their 3-month old doing her signature belly laugh.
Or their 2-year old picking flowers for her family...
And then running back to deliver them with such joy.
Now that is a perfect moment.
In honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow, I had to end with one of Quinn baking pies in her little kitchen. The apron is just too much. Love it!
Brooke and Craig, I had the best time meeting and photographing your sweet family and definitely look forward to "working" together as your girls grow. Happy Thanksgiving! You are truly blessed. Hugs! ~Kristine
Last month I photographed the most adorable baby and family. Dean is 8 months old -- one of my absolute FAVORITE ages to photograph. And though he had a little cold during this session, you would never know it! His mommy Rachel just kept saying, "I hope you got at least one of his cute little dimples when he smiles." And I promised her I did. More than one; many! Here are a few favorites of Dean, his parents, and even his 2 doggies! Enjoy!
Beautiful family! As per usual, we started with a more posed picture to make sure we had one.
Dimply smiles for Mommy - yes please! LOVE!
I love photographing 8 month old babies because they are sitting and crawling...
And just so inquisitive about the world.
More dimples. Love the moment.
After some outdoor pics, we went inside for a few more.
Dimples!! I loved capturing Dean doing exactly what an 8 month old does. Chewing, teething...
Just being cute. Look at those eyes!
One is his dinosaur hat...had to get it from the side.
Another one that I adore. This is so "real baby" and I wouldn't dare photoshop it. :)
One of my favorite more modern shots.
What a cutie! Couldn't decide if I liked it more in color or old-school half sepia.
Our session went really well....
Look at those giggles!
And yes, we even got the doggies!
A baby and 2 dogs...all looking! I am thrilled, and I hope Dean's parents are too. Rachel and Scott, thank you for asking me to do these. I had a blast spending a morning with your family and Dean is so so cute! Hugs! ~Kristine
On Saturday 9-10-11 (cool date huh!), my intern Jocelyn and I photographed Elaine and Alex's beautiful wedding in Charlottesville, VA. Both the ceremony and reception were held at the DoubleTree Hotel, and everything was just perfect, including the weather. It couldn't have been a nicer day for an outdoor ceremony. Jocelyn and I had so much fun capturing the big day for this amazing couple -- here are a few favorites. Enjoy!
Blue skies. Gorgeous early fall temperatures. It was gonna be a good day.
Add a little bling...
Some really fun makeup...
And a beautiful, sweet, and funny bride...
And it was going to be an excellent day.
Some of Elaine's "somethings".
The flowers. Amazingness!
The bridesmaids bouquets were super cool.
Love Jocelyn's shot.
Elaine's finishing touches...
Alex couldn't wait to see his bride.
Those are my hands putting on his flower - I've gotten quite good at that over the years!
LOVE the color!
Ceremony time. Watching and waiting.
The setting at DoubleTree is really really pretty.
More amazing flowers. They actually had candles inside of them.
Family members then lit candles for loved ones who couldn't be there. This is Elaine's Grandmother. It was really special.
Such happiness. I love when I can capture a smile like that.
Couldn't get enough of those flowers.
Vows -- which they wrote themselves.
And they're married. My angle.
Jocelyn's angle. She knows exactly where to be. Love her!
We did a few different wedding party shots and I thought these were so fun.
Their laughter is priceless.
One portrait that's a little traditional...
And one that has a more photojournalistic feel.
Some of my favorites were using the brick columns in front of the hotel.
This might be my fave.
Modern and fresh.
The detail on the cake was so pretty.
And of course so was the whole cake.
The first dance.
These two were so cute.
There are so many adorable shots.
There were some great toasts...
Love Elaine's laugh.
Such a great moment.
One of the most unique and special things about their day was a bouquet presentation. Elaine gave flowers to her Mom, Mother-in-Law and Grandmother...
Elaine's Grandmother sat and watched and had no idea she was going to be given a bouquet.
Elaine had the nicest things to say about her Grandmother, and as she teared up, so did the rest of the room.
The dance floor stayed packed...
And the newlyweds closed it down. Elaine and Alex, thank you so much for the privilege of documenting your wedding. I am so happy you found each other! With love and appreciation ~Kristine & Jocelyn
To say that Ava and Jacob have some of the most beautiful eyes -- and eyelashes -- that I've ever seen would be an understatement. They are just gorgeous! I have been photographing these 2 since they were babies. This is at least the 4th time, and I just ADORE them and their parents. In all of our sessions though, I never took an "eyelash" shot of them before, and this year that was Jeni's only request. She knew I could handle the rest, and for that, I am so grateful. As Thanksgiving approaches, I just want to let Jeni & Matt (and all of my loyal clients) know how appreciative I am that you trust me to document your most precious memories. Thank you thank you thank you!
Here are a few favorites from my session with Ava and Jacob. Enjoy!
Siblings and best friends. Cute cute cute!
Ava - I wasn't kidding about their eyes!
They are beautiful.
So I'm blogging a lot of pictures...
It's my early Christmas gift to them.
Thank goodness they'll have the disk and won't have to choose...
Though I'm pretty sure it will still be a difficult task for them to choose photos for their Christmas card.
Ava and Jacob know me and that helps in getting all these great shots.
What a beauty!
Every year she is just prettier and prettier.
Jacob. I love his serious face.
He is definitely going to be a heartbreaker.
Precious! I'm not showing too many in black & white cause I just love the color...
But, eyelash shots in my opinion were made to be in black & white.
Love love love!
Doesn't get much cuter!
Or more fun!
Cool in sepia too.
A couple more in their holiday outfits...
I could post all day.
We even found an evergreen tree. Perfect!
Jeni and Matt, thank you for asking me once again to photograph your little sweeties. It is always great seeing you all and I hope you love these the most of any we've done yet. Hugs! ~Kristine
The only thing I love more than including the family dog is including more family -- especially when it's Grandma and Great Grandma holding their adorable 6-month old grandson! And that's exactly what Katie and Derek did. It wasn't planned, but Katie's mom and grandma decided to come visit the weekend of our photo session, and when Katie asked if we could include them in a few photos, I was like, "Yes, please!" It really doesn't get any better. Here are a few favorites from our super sweet session.
Three BEAUTIFUL women and three generations, Katie, her Mom, and Grandma.
A favorite of the whole family and 4 generations.
After a bunch of different portraits, we did some that were more candid.
These are just special.
Then Katie, Derek, Michael and Coco headed to the park.
There we were able to get precious pics of Michael...
And of Michael and Coco together! Babies and dogs -- what's not to love!?!
I have been photographing this family since Katie was pregnant with Michael...winter to fall....
Oh how a few months changes so much! LOVE this family shot.
And this one of Michael. Could he be any cuter!?!
Look at those cheeks, and those lips!
He had so much fun exploring his surroundings.
While there, we got some portraits with Mommy...
And of course we got some of those great moments, too.
And Michael kisses. Precious!!!
Katie and Derek, thank you for the opportunity to capture your beautiful family as Michael grows. Looking forward to seeing you all again for 1-year pictures! Hugs! ~Kristine
