Just for a moment, I feel like Santa. I mean, really, my name IS Kris Pringle! ;-) And yes, I hear all kinds of jokes at this time of year.
In all seriousness, I just love that I can give these precious memories to a sweet friend. Annie is one of my sorority sisters from VT, and she and her family are just beautiful. Inside and out. Next to seeing her boys faces on Christmas morning, I know that these photos are going to be her favorite gift. Time frozen, moments captured. Moms everywhere have told me that this is their grown up Christmas wish, and that makes me feel like Santa. Enjoy!
Annie and Jamie have three gorgeous boys...Jack is the oldest...
Will is the middle brother...
And Evan is the baby.
We started off with some relaxed portraits. So pretty!
We did some with Daddy...
And some with Mommy. Many of them were the "looking at the camera" type pictures...
And many were more candid.
Because I think my clients should have both.
"I love my daddy!" Soooo sweet!
We accomplished this family photo is 6 frames. That is kind of unheard of...
So we moved to another spot and got yet another one. LOVE!
I think what made it so easy is how much these boys love each other. It was so obvious...
Literally, it didn't matter what they were doing...like here I was focusing on baby Evan...
And Jack would just run up and start hugging and kissing him. I didn't ask him to. He just did it. And that is beautiful.
You've done a great job Annie and Jamie.
Your boys are so so sweet.
I mean for real! Could they be any cuter?!?!
Me: "Boys, do you have pockets?"
Why yes, we do! Adorable!
Chubby cheeks and eyelashes.
A different angle for an eyelash shot. Love it!
Annie and Jamie, thank you for the wonderful, fun session and lots of love to your beautiful family! Enjoy the preview ~Kris Pringle ;-)
In keeping with the holiday theme, "Sparkle" just seemed to fit this family's pictures. Their eyes, their smiles, their SHOES -- they all sparkled!
Sam is a good friend of my brother's, so I have actually known him and his wife Beth for many years and I just adore them! We've never lived in the same town though -- until recently. I am thrilled to be back home in Richmond, and I'm so thankful that Beth and Sam asked me to do pictures for their beautiful family. Here are just a few favorites. Enjoy!
Meet beautiful 5-year old Caroline.
And her 2-year old little sister Anna. Dollbaby!
We started off with "the hard ones" -- the portraits with everyone looking and smiling. But these girls didn't make it hard at all!
Every one was just cuter than the next.
Three beautiful girls!
One of my photographer friends once said that real men elicit emotion from their daughters without direction. I couldn't agree more! Love this.
We continued with more portraits....
And a few more directed candids...love the ankle crossing!
And then we just had fun.
Their faces are priceless!
AND sparkly shoes. So fun!
These girls had a great time on the playground, going down slides...
And playing on the see-saw.
It was here that I could really capture their darling personalities. Love the laughter!
And love the expression!
This one is just priceless. So so cute!
Beth and Sam, thank you for this fun session! It was so great to see you and spend a few hours together. Looking forward to seeing you all again now that we live so close by! Hugs! ~Kris
J.O.Y. That's what I think of when I see these pictures, and I know they are going to bring a smile to Leslie and George's faces too. Their kids are growing up -- they are practically teenagers, and I think I was able to capture them in a way that shows that, but also in a way that really preserves their youth too. Because as parents, isn't that what we all really want?! Our kids to stay little, just a little longer. I have a lot of favorites, and it brings me a lot of joy to share them! enJOY! :)
Meet Maria -- what a stunning girl!
And this is her handsome brother Owen. We started off with some individual portraits...
And then we got this of the kids together. LOVE it!
We did some portraits of the whole family...
And some that were more directed candid of their family enjoying life.
Joy -- I really couldn't think of a better word.
Every smile is just real and uncontrived.
Maria. She is growing up...
But I love that I could capture the playfulness in her steps.
Nice ducking Owen! So fun!
I absolutely adore the candids we got that day.
Because in my opinion, a session shouldn't be just portraits. It should capture personalities.
At the very end, I took a few pictures of Maria in her riding clothes.
Gorgeous!!! Next year maybe we'll include the horse! :)
One more of Owen...
And one last favorite of them together. They were super excited to surprise their parents with this one! Leslie and George, thank you so much for asking me to document your beautiful family!! Enjoy the pictures and the holidays! ~Kristine
I recently had the chance to do a session at a new location -- the local nursery that Jason runs with his family -- and I absolutely loved it! Kids are really comfortable in familiar surroundings -- I'm sure to them this felt like just another day at the office. :) Kelly was referred to me by another client of mine, and come to find out we are both Hokies! Then during our session, we discovered that Jason and I went to the same high school. Small world! I LOVED working with this sweet family and their 2 adorable little boys. Here are just a few faves. Enjoy!
Blond hair, blue eyes and curls! Could these 2 be any cuter!?!
LOVE this one. Sweet sweet sweet!
Gorgeous little Luke is 2...I love this image in color.
But I also love it in black & white.
And handsome little Johnathan is 14 months. Beautiful in color...
And in black & white.
They loved flying.
Mommy's boys. I heart this.
And this. We did just a few with Mommy and Daddy...
Because at ages 2 and 1, the boys really just wanted to play and Kelly and Jason wanted me to capture that.
So they explored around the nursery...going in wagons...
And sitting on bridges...
These 2 were quick, but whenever they looked at me...
I was ready.
Love the smile!
Love the lashes!
How do you make 2 toddler boys really happy!?! You let them splash in water!
Precious! Needless to say, his sweater was done after this...but we were at the end of our session anyway.
Kelly and Jason, thanks for asking me to document this moment in time for your family. It was so fun! Hugs! ~Kris
On Saturday October 15th, I photographed Kathy & Thad's wedding in Old Town Alexandria, VA at The Hotel Monaco. What an ahhhhmazing day!! There was a bride with a smile (and laugh) that could light up any room, a groom who, as coined by one of his groomsmen, smiles with a sheepish grin of complete adoration when he looks at her, family and friends who were just plain awesome and made me feel more like a guest than the photog, and details details details. Oh, and another perfect day for an outdoor ceremony. My blog is out of control, so before I write any more, here are a few (okay, a LOT) of favorites. Enjoy!
The uber swanky Hotel Monaco in Old Town. LOVE.
You know it's gonna be a great day when it starts with purple Coach shoes.
And flowers that look like this.
And a gorgeous dress...
The beautiful bride in the beautiful lobby.
Love the laugh!
Loved these girls!
Especially that little flower girl, Alexa. Her parents are some of my best clients, and wonderful friends too.
Girl flowers, boy flowers...
And it was time to find the handsome groom.
Such a great group of guys.
Ceremony time - the programs were darling!
Kathy was walked down the aisle by her 2 brothers.
I love when I can get a shot of the groom's face with the bride in the foreground.
Kathy's brother sang and played guitar during the ceremony.
Love the moment.
Love the setting.
I got the real kiss too but couldn't resist this one because it's a "smile kiss"!
The receiving line and congratulations...
What perfect fall flowers.
A completely unplanned shot of Thad running inside to say "It's picture time!" Love it!
One of my favorite wedding party shots ever. Thanks Kathy and Thad for the great looking group and thanks Restoration Hardware for the great looking furniture!
So sweet and so modern.
Then it was time for portraits of the newlyweds alone.
We walked around the streets of Old Town.
But mostly we just used the hotel because it had so many great spots. Love this.
Loved their color scheme and their placecards.
Getting ready for their first dance.
It was really really good!
Then there were some toasts...by the best man, Thad's brother Scott.
And maid of honor.
I loved capturing their reactions...the speeches were obviously hilarious...
The kids just wanted to dance!
A look, a glance, a smile...this is the type of image that defines joy on your wedding day.
There was a whole lotta dancing going on.
There were flying curls...
And kids in sneakers and diapers. Hehe!
The newlyweds breakin it down!
Gotta love an impromptu photo on the dance floor.
Thanks Kat and Scott for referring me to your sweet family!
And thanks Kathy and Thad for the opportunity to document the happiest day of your lives. It was an absolute blast!
Wait, the blog isn't over yet...I still have editing to do so I'm only posting a few for now...on Friday night, I photographed Kathy and Thad's rehearsal dinner at Landini Brothers in Alexandria.
What incredible atmosphere.
The entire room was just warm, filled with family and friend wearing glow necklaces. LOVE.
There's that laugh again!
There was lots of laughing going on...
And even a few tears after Thad's mom gave a heartfelt speech.
I couldn't be happier for these two.
Kathy and Thad, again, congratulations! Much love and appreciation! ~Kris
As a mom of 2 daughters myself, I have to admit that my heart skips a beat when photographing 2 sisters, especially 2 older ones who are so obviously best friends. When my babies are older, I hope they are just like these 2. Really. They love each other, love their parents, love their Grandma -- and they are just sweet sweet sweet! Who could ask for more? Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!
We started off our morning with a few of the whole family, including Heather's mom (Grandma!).
Three generations and four beautiful girls.
Grandma's precious girls.
Mom and daughter, does it get any sweeter?
After a few with Grandma, we focused on Heather and Warren's immediate family.
Meet gorgeous 8-year old Layne.
And stunning big sister, 10-year old Reese. She thought it was fun standing on these columns...
So we rolled with it for a family shot. Girl has good taste.
And a few of the sisters together...
Seriously, I love them all.
I so adore the grounds at UVA.
Beautiful sweet family!
These pictures are even more special since Heather and Warren both went to med school at UVA.
Love this close up!
And of course, their eyelashes.
I have photographed wedding parties here, so why not a family? Love it!
At the end, we just played.
The girls had a GREAT time...and so did I.
Images like these are why I said my heart skips a beat. It is exactly how I know Heather and Warren will want to remember their girls at 8 and 10.
H & W - thank you soooo much! I adore your family and hope we can do this again sometime! Hugs~ Kris
This morning my husband had music on, and that catchy Beatles track came on. All You Need is Love...Love is All You Need. I thought to myself -- love that song, love my job, love my clients, and the blog title came to be.
I photographed Lialeh's sister-in-law in the spring, and Lialeh saw my work through her and immediately contacted me to schedule a session. I am so excited about what we got -- what a beautiful family, inside and out. Here are a few favorites. Enjoy!
We started off with some portraits of Lialeh and Mike's 3 beautiful kids. Three-year old Connor...
Three-year old twin sister Taylor...
And darling 16-month old Lucas.
Somehow we managed to pull this one off and it was a really happy day...
After that the kids played. They had fun picking flowers...
And just loving on each other. So sweet!
I snuck in a few more portraits when they didn't realize it. What a handsome little guy!
And seriously, what a beauty with that long wavy hair!
Just gorgeous. I so adore this child.
I got a few eyelash shots.
Because like all the kids I photograph it seems, these kids had some amazing lashes!
And then we got some portraits like this one. Precious!
We got several looking at the camera versions with Lucas, but I could not resist that smile. I love when a portrait turns into a great candid.
So so dear. All you need is love.
It is just oozing out of these photos.
Even got a few of Lialeh and Mike -- so adorable you two!
And the whole family -- you bet! I love this moment.
And I really love this portrait. Lialeh and Mike, this was SO much fun. Thank you for being so wonderful to work with. Lialeh, can't wait to see you at the workshop in May! Hugs! ~Kris
I know Dana from college, but I hadn't seen her in forever -- until this recent session. Dana and her husband Eric lived in many far away places, most recently in Scottsdale, Arizona. But a job transfer brought them to Richmond, Virginia and I am thrilled. Thrilled that they are living here, and also thrilled that they asked me to take family photos for them. Especially these super special newborn photos of Cameron, who was born on September 27th. Here are a few favorites from our morning together. Enjoy!
A three-year old, a 2-week old AWAKE newborn, AND the dog! This was one of our first images and I knew it was going to be a great session.
How super sweet! Big sister Anna is totally smitten with her baby brother Cameron.
While Cameron was eating, I got a few of Anna and Daddy. Precious!
Then it was back inside. LOVE this!
And this. Dana, you are gorgeous as always.
Daddy's boy. They have a beautiful home and I loved using the foyer for photos.
Baby feet. Just delicious...
Sweeter than a hershey kiss!
Cameron is sooooo cute, and he slept really well for us during this session. Dana and Eric, I hope that has continued. ;)
Anna did really great too.
I have a bunch that I love of her but this might be my fave. So pretty!
With the holidays approaching, we had to take a few in the Santa hat.
Dana and Eric (Ely!), thank you so much for asking me to do these special pictures for your family. Cameron and Anna are beautiful -- it was so great to meet them and to see you and I can't wait to see you all again -- hopefully soon! Love, Kris
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving from the Pringles! ~Kristine, Scott, Elsa, and Emme **ps - we've been taking advantage of the nice weather and taking lots of pictures today so maybe I'll post more later. Depends on what time my kids go to bed after eating pies and cookies! :)
So it was a wonderful Thanksgiving, but my kids went to sleep LATE, as expected. I promise to post a ton of pictures during my winter slow-time, but for now here are 2 of my favorites of our girls. We are blessed. xoxo
Emme will turn 2 on December 16th...I will definitely be doing a special birthday blog for her that day.
And Elsa is 3 1/2. Time sure does fly but we are enjoying every minute. More pics coming soon. :)
You know it's a GREAT session when the TINY 3-month old baby is doing BIG belly laughs. :-)
Brooke's sister bought her a photography gift certificate last Christmas, and we scheduled our session for early October, just 3 months after Brooke and her husband Craig had their second little girl.
Though I've never met Brooke's sister, she had seen my work and knew that Brooke would just love having photos of her family done as a gift. This year, I'm sure Brooke will be returning the favor in the form of prints for everyone on her list.
Here are a few favorites from our belly-laughing morning. Enjoy!
Meet Brooke, Craig, 2-year old Quinn and 3-month old Katherine.
Quinn LOVED swinging...
And she LOVED kissing her new baby sister.
So we rolled with it. So sweet!
She also loved picking flowers...
And showing them to baby Katherine. She was so observant and curious about everything.
She really loves her big sister...
And I think she thinks she is hilarious!
What a beauty!
And what a little dollbaby!
She is just gorgeous.
We got all the relaxed "unposed" portraits...
In all the different combinations....
But I know that Brooke and Craig are going to love the candid moments even more. Like their 3-month old doing her signature belly laugh.
Or their 2-year old picking flowers for her family...
And then running back to deliver them with such joy.
Now that is a perfect moment.
In honor of Thanksgiving tomorrow, I had to end with one of Quinn baking pies in her little kitchen. The apron is just too much. Love it!
Brooke and Craig, I had the best time meeting and photographing your sweet family and definitely look forward to "working" together as your girls grow. Happy Thanksgiving! You are truly blessed. Hugs! ~Kristine
